Will Richardson (HAM music man extraordinary) brought together a really fantastic line up of the finest singers, musicians and groups in our region for our Midsummer Music Madness concert on Sunday June 11th 2006. All the groups and artists listed below gave their time for free to help raise a lot of pennies for The Teenage Cancer Trust ! Please follow the links to the acts own web sites and check them out as their music is really worth a listen to! Also see the great photos taken at the MsMM 2006 concert.
Cara
Traditional Irish music at its finest with three wonderfully talented musicians and songwriters from south of the Humber. Cara got us off to a great start!
Craft
A three piece acoustic band. Incredibly this was Craft's first live performance! Another first for madness and a great performance by Craft.
Bio Rhythm
Delightful duo singing covers of the likes of The Beautiful South.
TripManhattan
Had just undergone an identity crisis before playing for us. Originally named Strip Light they found to their horror another group shared the same name. A great five piece band played songs from Guns and Roses to the Eagles. They stuck around all day and really entered into the spirit of 'Madness' sharing their drum kit and helping out with backing vocals for those who came on after them.
Graham Hodge
Fine singer/guitarist covering great artists from Bob Dylan to Tom Waite
Loose Covers
Dave and Judy wowed the audience with their raunchy style of Jazz, Blues/Rock covers from the likes of Van Morrison, and Rod Stewart.
Skizm
Great talented musicians came all the way from London join up together for one gig. Quite extraordinary electric guitar playing to finish the first half.
Beverley Brass Band
Well of course the band entertained and the audience sang along while most of you enjoyed your BBQ with favourites from Buddy Holly, The Beatles and many more.
Plank
Lynn and Anita Blakeston were not satisfied with working on the sound and lighting for over 16 hours they also joined up with Rob Nicklas to perform some of their favourite songs, featuring Lynn's pedal steel guitar.
Flip Flop Fly
Recreated the music of Van Morrison, Wilson Picket, Jerry Lee Hooker and others by putting on an energetic show in their in their own way. Wow - what a performance.
Union Central
A five-piece band who played guitars, fiddles, bass, percussion and re-create the wonderful music of Alison Kraus, Union Station. A quick change to Blue Grass!
the neumes
Excellent five piece band, fronted by three teenage sisters presenting Corrs material, folk rock music as well as their own wonderful songs. Let's face it they really did surprise everyone with a magic performance and we can't wait to see them again at the Half Moon on July 15th! A young group that is 'going places'! Photo Album
Stony
Pure brilliance - played anything from The Beatles to their own excellent songs, on keyboard, guitars and saxophone. They gave a great performance as usual and of course got practically the whole audience on the dance floor. A great finale to a fantastic day!
It will be party time once again at Brantingham Park, Elloughton on Sunday 10th June 2007! We hope to see you there! |
